Choosing by protein
New Zealand hoki fish treats supply EPA and DHA, the marine omega 3s associated with skin and coat condition. Hemp and kangaroo chews are a single novel protein, which is often where owners start when they are working through a food trial. Organic beef liver is the most strongly flavoured of the three and tends to win over fussy dogs and distracted trainees.

A note on amounts
Treats are food. Whatever your dog gets as treats should be counted as part of the daily ration, not added on top of it. A good rule of thumb is keeping treats to around a tenth of daily intake. This matters more for dogs already carrying extra weight.
